about me
Inspiration from Art
I like visiting art museums to look at paintings. The artist’s brilliance manifests itself in the details, from the pair of eyes that follow the viewer across the gallery to a finger pointing towards a broken mirror. All these details bring depth and meaning to the paintings. Appreciating art has taught me to dig deeper and always look for what is not obvious.
Inspiration from People
Every time I travel, I force myself out of my comfort zone and immerse in new experiences. Taking a walking tour guided by a homeless man allowed me to see the streets of old Taipei as he saw them. This experience taught me to not only look closely at the faces of people with stories to tell, but also to see the world through their eyes. A conversation with a stranger broadens my worldview and inspires me to know the world a little differently.
Inspiration from Life
Design Thinking taught me that inspiration can exist even in the most mundane things in our daily lives. Through the lens of human-centered design, I uncovered consumer tensions and discovered user pain points as I fully immersed myself into the lives of the consumers for whom we were designing products.
Creative Competency
Companies have turned to machine learning to drive efficiency and minimize risks by replicating previous success patterns. This leaves very little room to explore ways to engage our capacity for breakthrough ideas. Creativity—viewed from the perspective of art, people and life—has always driven me and has served as an unfailing guide for me in developing and finding meaning in my work.
